Tough, iconic project called THE GALLERY
This is the urban finale of one of the most striking building blocks on the Zuid. Flanked by the M HKA, the Hoopnatie and many galleries, this site breathes the maritime context of yesteryear and is part of the growing artistic top heart of Antwerp!
As a link, a hinge and a connection between Waalse Kaai and Cockerillkaai, THE GALLERY presents itself as an architectural ribbon, a chain or series of volumes that reconciles the diversity of scale of Gedempte Zuiderdokken and Scheldekaaien into a single readable, hybrid composition.
Characterized by a single intelligible, clear and striking arrangement that architecturally connects the past and the present and in which purified details and sustainable materials play a central role. THE GALLERY breathes the atmosphere of a brutalist, simple architecture that gradually exhibits itself in a more glassy way!
With respect for the heritage of the ‘Zuiderpershuis‘, THE GALLERY rises above the ground level towards the Schelde as an artistic square and entrance.
A design that gives direction and meaning to the context, as a triptych to the city!
