The cooperative auction house REO has been a well-known name in and around Roeselare since 1942. The winning competition design by BINST ARCHITECTS transforms the current offices of this fruit and vegetable auction into a fully-fledged “REO House”: an accessible and recognizable building where both visitors and employees feel at home.
By conceiving the volume as a composition of “stacked crates,” the REO identity is translated into a distinctive architectural form that, through smart stacking and interlocking, offers a flexible and future-proof floor plan. Inside, the consistent use of wood as the primary material gives the restaurant, auction hall, and offices a warm character with a strong focus on sustainability. The green-stained wooden façade completes the picture, ensuring that this new headquarters is visible from afar along the N32 ring road around Roeselare. A new story begins to grow.
