The design for Orteliuskaai 5 is based on an in-depth environmental analysis of the Scheldt Quays, revealing a rich, heterogeneous architectural language characterized by a diverse color palette and varying building heights. This section of the quays, between Sint-Pietersevliet and Koolkaai, stands out for its interplay of large-scale volumes and more slender buildings, creating a fascinating harmony. This dynamic is embraced through the design of a sleek and elegant façade with minimalist, double-height frames, where simplicity is enhanced by the use of corten steel and expansive glazing. The result is an autonomous building that subtly distinguishes itself within the eclectic mix of styles and colors that typify the Scheldt Quays, while simultaneously elevating the living experience with a refined architectural signature.
