Detached loft house in Humbeek
Lofts are empty urban boxes without any individual packaging, but can conceptually translate and profile themselves just as well as a freestanding volume with an architectural shell.
The private home is a sculptural synthesis of one’s own creative tools and interpretations of the flexibility offered by a loft. The residential level of 28 x 9 m forms a spacious experimental and private whole with maximum transparency and visual contact.
Contemporary use of materials, extensive detailing and a pure furniture design symbolize the identity that the loft object or lounge box should ultimately promote as an alternative and extravagant living concept. The black plastered façade finish on the concrete façade shell with solid steel fins as a supporting structure reinforces the strength and dynamics of this streamlined vehicle.
