The ‘cocoa trace experience centre’ is an immersion in the world of quality chocolate, innovative and sustainable research processes, and creative workshops. The winning design concept is the result of a collaboration between B BRAND and BINST ARCHITECTS. The brief involved the repurposing of an industrial building into an experience centre for both visitors and professionals. The design seeks interaction with the existing concrete structure and divides the open space into three zones. The ‘factory’ showcases the production process. The ‘cocoa trace experience’ is at the centre and accommodates a scenographic experience walk with immersive experiences including a focus on ‘the holy cocoa tree’, an auditorium and workshop areas. The ‘logistics zone’ houses the offices, meeting rooms and visitor restaurant. Inspiration for the scenography and design language come from the silo-shaped chocolate tanks that are central to the production process. As a result, the façade is made up of glazed tubular façade segments that also reflect the internal experience zones.
