Designing a ‘school’ is just about the most important task that an architect can be assigned on a social level. Building really good schools means building on and for the future, because the young people who are educated there will soon carry and spread the experience of light, air, simplicity and beauty throughout their lives. A really good school educates young people, of course within the chosen discipline, but also gives rise to socio-cultural behaviour through its organisation, location of places for encounters, simple but stylish construction and design. The global organisation in terms of circulation, both horizontally and vertically, means that these encounters and interaction are evident within this campus. A really good school is also more than the literal translation of a functional organisation. Experience teaches us that nothing should be as flexible as a school’s programme of requirements. The concept takes into account maximum flexibility in terms of filling and compartmentalisation.
