Book UNTITLED

BINST ARCHITECTS celebrates 50th anniversary with manifesto and reference work UNTITLED

A conceptual and analytical collective work of art as a new blueprint, which offers in-depth insight into our multidisciplinary oeuvre.

With a conceptual and analytical book of no less than 1,376 pages, the Antwerp design agency BINST ARCHITECTS provides an in-depth insight into its multidisciplinary oeuvre. The document arose from a double mission and message. On the one hand, the agency focuses on re-examining and more strongly defining its own work as a current blueprint. On the other hand, it emphasizes the growing need to illuminate the complex construction medium from a series of thematic chapters. Following on from this second mission, an exciting podcast series is also planned for the next eight months in collaboration with Architectura, in which a chapter is explored every month with 2 relevant guests.

The title of the book, ‘UNTITLED’, refers to a working methodology and an attitude of continuous evolution and change. It also offers a current view of the BINST ARCHITECTS agency. ‘UNTITLED’ is a concept often used in the art world, where the viewer is invited to interpret an untitled work. “We saw it as a key word that coincides with the structure of our book,” says architect and manager Luc Binst.

In eight complementary chapters, UNTITLED highlights the thematic representation of a striking oeuvre à la carte, in which the five disciplines of urban planning, architecture, interior design, product development and art integration are intertwined into one conceptual, analytical and graphic reference work. The book opens the doors to design-related relationships, clearly visible lines of force and the unique character of an extremely driven address in transition, which is gradually reprogramming itself.

ICONIC OBJECT

With its 1,376 pages, the synthesis book is a daring selection from more than a thousand projects by BINST ARCHITECTS. It functions as a handbook for the future and a springboard to a complex and intriguing medium in intercontinental (r)evolution. A tangible representation of the creative spirit and broad expertise of the architectural firm, focused on continuous innovation in architectural, construction and organizational areas.

As an iconic object with a sleek design, the book illustrates the history of the agency and serves as a retrospective reflection and ‘next step’ in a timeline of 50 years of special history. “In short, it is an atypical architecture book, as the cornerstone of BINST ARCHITECTS,” concludes Luc Binst.

UNTITLED is published by Lannoo and is available at selected bookstores for €89.99.
