The former office building in Kortrijk is being transformed from an urban blight into an urban anchor, with the goal of enhancing the livability and appeal of the neighborhood. This redevelopment introduces a diverse mix of functions, residential opportunities, and green spaces, contributing to a more inviting streetscape and a higher quality of life.
With its north-south orientation, the building benefits from optimal sunlight exposure, offering spacious terraces with scenic views, while the façade is redesigned for improved energy efficiency using sustainable materials.
The scale of the building is carefully integrated into its surroundings, ensuring it remains a natural part of the cityscape without overpowering it. The reconfiguration of the site fosters a dynamic relationship between the buildings and enhances circulation. Strategic greenery creates a natural transition to the surrounding residences, while the residential stepped terrace adds extra outdoor space, reinforcing a human-centered scale.
The underground parking is optimized with three flexible scenarios, and the color palette is designed to harmonize with the local environment.
This redevelopment transforms the building into a valuable and sustainable asset for the neighborhood, contributing to the future of Kortrijk.
