This unique location of the project, in the heart of Ghent, makes it necessary to the immediate vicinity to the project. The further detailed architectural choices are often a direct result of the results of studies on the development of the surrounding urban fabric. The Office function, shopping and relaxation combine with enough apartments so as to obtain an interesting mix of features and to spread the active hours rather than letting peaks. For the offices of KBC we have chosen the historical value of the Kouter as being a “banks-square” to combine with the peace and quiet on the inside of the plot. Also we try with the typology of the store happen to extend the current store tissue and aware as a natural offshoot of the current store-walking to make a meaningful connection between the parcour Kalandeberg and the Kouter. Finally, we maintain apartments on the floors above with green indoor gardens and views over the historical centre on the other.
